NEW BOOK !!!

The new book that I just started is called One Woman’s Army by Janis Karpinski. Although it is another book about a woman being in war, there will be other issues to talk about dealing with women and some issues that they have to deal with and experience. After reading the last book Love my Riffle More Than You by Kayla Williams, I was really interested in what women had to go through in the army, and what they went through in different countries. Because I was so wrapped up in my last book, I wanted to continue on reading about women in war, and that’s why I chose this book.

Janis Karpinski, the narrator and main character of the book, starts talking immediately about women being treated as inferior soldiers:

“Army leaders did not seem to want me to run, but I ran anyway. The senior warriors peeking out of their offices and seeing his Reserve general, a woman, running at 4:30 in the morning decided they had to do something about that-or maybe it was just a coincidence that they kept changing the rules. When they announced at a briefing that personnel-women especially- were no longer authorized to run by themselves, I had to look down at my notepad and stifle a laugh. I was thinking, well, if this headquarters base is secure, what different does it make whether a man or a woman runs alone?"(7)

It’s evident that Janis sees the inequality between women and men. She later goes on by saying that she didn’t understand why women couldn’t run alone. Because the base does not allow any trespassers then it should be a safe environment to be in. Later on in the book, Janis says that the officers were making up excuses that if a woman was to pass out because of the high temperature, then other women would not be able to handle the stress and think rationally in a panic. The excuses that were being made about the women were just to limit their capacity to succeed.

It's nice how you're on to your next book about another woman in war. I can see why you are so interested in reading about these women and how they are treated while serving in the army. I mean we are all Americans, why is it that men are not looked down on or looked at as if they can't do things correctly. As I have read that they said if one woman can't handle the heat then no women can. That is absolutely unacceptable. Just because one woman can't handle the heat doesn't mean all can't. All women can do as much a man can.

You need to catch up on your blogs we are suppose to have at least 16. Get working! =]
